Project Manager

Project Manager for Virtual High Street project

Social Streets C.I.C is looking for a Project Manager to launch its Virtual High Street. This is a six month project with the potential for extension.

Social Streets is looking for a Project Manager with experience in community engagement to help launch its Virtual High Street scheme in Tower Hamlets, led by its flagship title Roman Road LDN.

The role would be to help develop and launch the beginning of a section of the website dedicated to local businesses and organisations. We want to launch a basic version of this in time to help our high street bounce back after lockdown. The work would involve reaching out to local businesses on Roman Road, developing ideas about how we can best help local organisations connect with local people, consulting with local residents to collect learnings about how they want to use the high street post lockdown, then creating our Virtual High Street (working title) and getting as many on board as possible for our grand launch.

Essentially, the Virtual High Street needs to be a platform that will help local businesses and organisations reach local people. The Virtual High Street will be available to all, but we want it to benefit our community members the most, which means local businesses will be able to access it at a nominal rate and will be the flagship faces for our marketing drives, helping define the initiatives we develop.

This is an opportunity to work with a small but highly committed social enterprise that is pioneering a model of community journalism to strengthen local community. Everyone on the team is community-minded and wanting to do something meaningful with their skills, whatever their role.

This role is part creative, part outreach, part marketing and part sales. It will involve consulting with key community stakeholders to develop the idea, developing the assets to promote the project, and signing up a critical mass of businesses to our paid Virtual High Street package in preparation for the grand launch.

This project work could lead to subsequent development projects.

Job role and responsibilities

  • Develop campaign and marketing ideas to promote our Virtual High Street directory
  • Generate sales leads for our Virtual High Street, from both local high street businesses and the wider business community
  • Sign up businesses and gather required assets for publishing
  • Organise design, print and distribution of the launch leaflet

This role would particular suit those with the following qualities and experience:

  • An interest in social enterprise or passion to make a difference in society
