School of Community Journalism

The UK’s first School of Community Journalism is training the next generation of community journalists.

Journalism that empowers communities

The school offers courses, internships and training programmes that teach the core principles of community journalism. This pioneering form of local journalism transfers power from media companies to the grassroots. Embracing the move towards decentralisation, community journalism gives local people greater agency over the messaging within their area, reinstating trust and authenticity in local media. Learn more about community journalism here.

The School of Community Journalism is part of Social Streets C.I.C., a social enterprise regulated by the Community Interest Companies regulators, a member of the Independent Community News Network (ICNN) and Social Enterprise UK.
