Digital training camp for businesses in whitechapel

Social Streets delivers digital training to businesses in Whitechapel

Social Streets has been appointed by London Borough of Tower Hamlets to deliver a community-led digital training programme to improve the digital health of high street businesses.

Following a successful pilot on Roman Road, Social Streets was selected by Tower Hamlets council to provide digital and business support to Whitechapel’s 120 businesses and 100 market traders.

The programme will run under the client-facing brand name of POW Digital Camp. It will include a digital high street audit, a digital consultation of local businesses, a day of Social Media MOTs sessions, a series of evening workshops about digital marketing for the retail sector, and networking events.

Social Streets’s POW Digital Camp uses community-led methodology to deliver exceptionally high levels of business participation and satisfaction.

Firstly, the needs of each business are assessed beforehand to ensure the programme is tailored to the needs of the high street businesses.

Secondly, digital mentors are recruited from the local community to help deliver the program and provide one-on-one mentoring over a period of months following the programme. This helps increase the digital connections within the community, creating sustainable empowerment that will increase digital marketing activity in the long term.

Thirdly, the programme is delivered at a time and location to suit the retail schedule of high street business owners, even if that means delivering units in the evening and at the business owner’s premises.

The programme of training will run for six months.
